Is the leader god, king or man?

In Sri Lanka, the leaders try to appear as kings and actually act as God.

This phenomenon was clearly seen in Prabakaran, the leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE).

Today, the President Mahinda Rajapakse is appearing as King of this country.

But in West, with the paradigm shift in which Obama came into power, the leader is depicted more and more as a human being.

But we are anti-Western and think we have better values.

  1. I think it is to do with what we are capable or not. We are not very civic minded group of people who are capable of holding social responsibility as much as westerners seem too. Westerners continually marinated by great minds since the time of Francis Bacon and they have a deferent perspective on society. Other hand we need a king, who are capable of snatching a job or any other opportunity from rightfully deserved and offering in to me or to my children. :)

  2. hey, nice thought. I guess here people are sick of leaders who aren't strong minded, and in america they already have the might and need to appease the consciences by having someone more humane.

Also, in both cases they are moving away from the stereotype. Sri lankans, seen as weak, americans, seen as brutal.
